Joost van Dinther (1976) is vice-chairman of the European Institute for Otorhinolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery at Sint-Augustinus, ZAS, Hospital in Antwerp, Belgium. He graduated cum laude in Medicine in Antwerp in 2002 and became an ENT specialist in 2008. After a Fellowship in Head and Neck Surgery UZGent, Belgium, with Professor Hubert Vermeersch, a second Fellowship in Neurotology with Professor Erwin Offeciers and Andrzej Zarowski followed at the European Institute for ORL-HNS-SBS in Antwerp. In 2020 he promoted at the Radboud University in Nijmegen, the Netherlands, under the promotor ship of Professor Cor Cremers and Erwin Offeciers on the subject of “Long Term Outcome of the Bony Obliteration Tympanoplasty in Cholesteatoma in Children and Adults: Safety- Hearing- Quality of Life”. He is guest professor in audiology and speech pathology at Thomas More (Antwerp, Belgium). In his daily practice he is an otological surgeon with a special interest for (oncological) head, neck, skull base pathology. Since his first days as an ENT specialist, he is involved in the training an education of ENT specialists, general practitioners and medical students. Together with his colleagues he runs a hands-on cadaver skills lab in Antwerp.
